She will be remembered as a very special lady that always saw the strengths in everyone and made each person she encountered feel important. She taught us all some very important lessons. Grandchildren will allow you to brush their hair provided you give them a bowl of sprinkles; Holy water has the ability to cure ADHD, the sniffles and a multitude of other ailments; never worry about lost items, Saint Anthony will help you find them; don’t let being blind stop you from driving if there is a person sitting next to you that can see; children rarely do anything wrong they are just misunderstood; if at a buffet bring a big purse; there is always room for one more, two more, three more…;when stranded in a hotel in a hurricane enjoy the crackers and the trip; never leave home without your rosary; and most importantly love unconditionally. Loved ones will be reminded of her when hearing phrases such as “behave”, “don’t be a tyrant”, “kill them with kindness”, “Jesus Marion Joseph”, and “a dollar and a dream.” Jean wished to continue her lessons as part of the Anatomical Gift program at Albany Medical School. A small graveside service will take place upon return of her remains. There will also be a memorial service in her honor with a date to be determined.

She was born in Lake Placid on August 26, 1918, the eldest daughter of Eva and Roy Belmore. Betty married the love of her life, Lawrence “Larry” Sayward on June 24, 1944. Together they took over the family dairy farm in Willsboro, known by many as Ridge View Farm. Eventually they started the legacy of Sayward’s Sweet Corn, where she spent many summers working the stand and selling the best corn in the North Country. She had a true love for gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and never minded getting her hands dirty. Her work ethic was one to admire and try to keep up with. Betty also worked many years at the County Home where she eventually retired. Betty was a member of the St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church in Willsboro, where she also served as a Catholic Daughter. Her strong faith always brought her comfort in life. Betty and Larry raised four sons, three foster children, and took into their home many other foster children through the years. Together they touched upon the lives of many children – some for a short time and others, longer. Betty loved to spend time with family and friends. She had a passion for music and loved to listen to all types. She never hesitated to kick up her feet and dance when given the chance. For many years, she also played in the “kitchen” band. She too was in the local bowling league, snowmobile club, and attended many area horse shows, where she established lasting friendships. Other past times were baking all sorts of sweets to share, playing cards, and going to yard sales, where she was always looking for a deal. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who leaves behind many. Left to cherish her memory are her four sons, George (Lois) Sayward, Lonnie Sayward, Richard (Sarah) Sayward, and Peter (Janet) Sayward. Her foster children include James Wasson and Mary Anne Williamson. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her many special memories in life and made her so proud. Larry was born October 8, 1919, the son of the late John A. and Adeline (Winch) Bliss. He recently celebrated 70 years of marriage with his wife, Dorothy (DeZalia). Together, they were blessed with two children, Lawrence D. Bliss (who predeceased him in 2011 after succumbing to ALS) and Sheila A. Borden. His son Lawrence married Polly (Pierce) and gave them three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren: Laura Bliss and partner Michael Carson (Alex, Michael and Benjamin); Sarah Bliss and partner Jamie Hammaker; and Melanie Bliss-Hall and husband David Hall (Olivia). Sheila is married to Irwin C. Borden, Jr., and presented her parents with a grandson, Keith L. It was said by someone (author unknown), “The measure of a man in is the lives he touched,” and Larry touched too many to number. He enjoyed joking with others, no matter what their age. He was an avid hunter and fondly remembered his years working on the South Farm in Essex. He loved his children and grandchildren, but the smiles and love shown to him by the great-grandchildren put the light into his days. The family is extremely thankful for the time they were able to enjoy with him and the precious memories created. Pamela “Pam” McDonald, age 59, formerly of White Water Manor, North Creek, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 5, 1956, Pamela was the daughter of the late Arnold and Doris Mary (Arsenault) McDonald. As a young woman, Pam relocated from Philadelphia to Maine and subsequently to North Creek, NY, a place she called her “Sweet Home Alabama”. Pam was gifted in the areas of art and music. Through her creative expressions, she found peace in painting and comfort in composing original musical pieces and lyrics. She also had a natural aptitude for playing the piano and organ. She was inspired by legendary talents of her favorite musicians, Patsy Cline and Santana. With a song in her heart, she enjoyed riding her “buggy” around town to visit friends. Pam was a likeable person by nature and in spite of life’s ups and downs, she never lost her “joie de vivre” and peace of mind. All she ever wanted in life was peace, joy and love. Pam is survived by her longtime friend, Nancy Studnicky; her daughter and son-in-law, Sheena and Guy Clark; her three grandchildren; her brother, David A. McDonald, Ph.D. and his wife Karen, of Michigan; and her sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Bob Conant. Her extended family includes several nieces and nephews; and her step-mother, Elaine McDonald. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter McDonald. As a parting wish Pam would ask those left behind to pause and remember a special moment in time that brought them love, peace and joy. To send condolences, please visit www.eannacefuneralhome.com.
