Ticonderoga. Joseph R. Forkas, 78, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the CVPH Medical Center of Plattsburgh.
Born in Witherbee, August 4, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Petro) Forkas.
Mr. Forkas was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., having served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the V.F.W. of Mineville.
Joseph has been a resident of Ticonderoga for most of his life. He was employed by the International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for many years and was a member of the Company's Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joan Ann (Woodard) Forkas; three sons, Thomas J. Forkas, Louis J. Forkas, and Stephen M. Forkas, all of Ticonderoga; one sister, Melissa Langlais of Crown Point; four grandchildren, Sara, Samantha, Jessica, and Naomi; and one great-grandchild, Lucas.
He was pre-deceased by one brother, Robert Forkas.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. The Rev. Kevin D. McEwan, Pastor of St. Mary's Church of Ticonderoga, will officiate.
A Committal Service with full Military Honors will follow at the family plot of the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
