Ticonderoga. Douglas S. Quesnel, 71, of Ticonderoga, passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
Born in Ticonderoga, March 10, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph Rolland and Mildred Ruth (Wells) Quesnel.
Mr. Quesnel was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and a graduate of Ticonderoga High School.
Douglas grew up on his family's farm - the Quesnel Dairy Farm on Baldwin Road in Ticonderoga. He and his wife, Cynthia have owned and operated the Streetroad Gardens of Ticonderoga since 1997. He loved nature and spending time in the outdoors. Doug was a very serious deer hunter and never missed a day during the season. He also enjoyed fishing. However, farming and growing fruits and vegetables were his passion.
He was employed by Ti Oil and Ultramar as a Truck Driver, both of Ticonderoga for many years, prior to his retirement in 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia (Hannell) Brannock-Quesnel; six children, Delbert "D.J." Alkinburgh of Ticonderoga, Travis Alkinburgh of Racine, Wisconsin, Terri (Brannock) Morgan of Homer, NY, John Brannock of Holidaysburg, PA, Anne Brannock of Ticonderoga, and Steven Brannock of Owensboro, Kentucky; two brothers, Dale Quesnel of Ticonderoga and Ricky Quesnel of Putnam Station; and one sister, Joan Charboneau of Ticonderoga. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Rolland Quesnel, Jr. and Bruce Quesnel; and one son, Robert "Eggy" Alkinburgh.
Private Services will take place at the convenience of the family.
